A police inspector attached to the Kogi State Government House in Lokoja, Inspector Mohammed Abdullahi, has lost an assault rifle and 30 rounds of live ammunition after his Toyota Camry vehicle was stolen on June 13, 2026. Abdullahi parked his vehicle, bearing Kaduna registration ZKW 650AA, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) premises in Lokoja around 7:30 p.m., leaving the firearm (breech number FA 4082) and ammunition inside. Upon returning, he discovered the vehicle missing. The vehicle was later found abandoned opposite the Federal University, Felele, Lokoja, but the rifle and ammunition had been removed. Police authorities have issued a nationwide alert and launched a manhunt for the missing weapon.
