A 2021 fire that destroyed Adnan Che Kar’s home on Jalan Atas Paloh in Kota Bharu did not break his spirit; instead, it sparked a new chapter. The 52-year-old, known as Abe6, and his wife Zubaidah Ismail, 51, began selling nasi lemak at RM1 per packet in May 2023 on Jalan Mahmood. Adnan explained that the tragedy taught him to be more grateful for every provision. He previously supplied nasi lemak to shops but switched to roadside sales after not receiving full payment for sold goods. “When we sent our nasi lemak to shops, it sold out, but we didn’t get the full money from sales. That made it difficult to continue,” he told Bernama.
