President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to inaugurate a new Sh17 billion radiotherapy services building at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) in Moshi, marking a major advancement in cancer care for Tanzania's Northern Zone. The facility, which has already begun limited services since February 25, 2026, treating 80 patients, will officially open during the President's one-day visit to Kilimanjaro Region on June 24, 2026. Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner Nurdin Babu confirmed that the project will ease the burden on cancer patients who previously had to travel to Dar es Salaam's Ocean Road Cancer Institute for radiotherapy.
