The DRC outbreak, confirmed on May 15, has recorded more than 1,000 cases and over 250 deaths, making it the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record, according to the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies. No approved vaccines or treatments exist for the Bundibugyo strain responsible for the outbreak.
