A B-double truck was stranded on the Bonemill Road level crossing at Runcorn, Brisbane, for approximately 4.5 minutes before being struck by an express train carrying 300 passengers on August 14, 2025. The truck, operated by Wiltons Transport, suffered a sudden air line failure between its A and B trailers while attempting to turn left onto Beenleigh Road, causing the wheels to skid and the prime mover to stop abruptly. Despite the driver’s repeated attempts to move the vehicle and then exiting the cab to inspect the trailers, neither the driver nor any bystanders called Triple Zero or Queensland Rail’s emergency number displayed on signs at the crossing. As a result, network control officers were unaware of the obstruction until the train driver contacted them after the collision.
