Shaun Lloyd, now 38, was handed an imprisonment for public protection (IPP) sentence at age 18 for snatching a mobile phone. He has served nearly 14 years for the crime, while his co-defendant served less than a year. Despite being released in February, Lloyd was recalled to prison last week after an anonymous caller falsely alleged he had strangled his mother. Police visited his mother, who confirmed the claim was baseless, but Lloyd was still recalled for failing to immediately report the incident to his probation officer.
