Ram Lal Markanda, a former BJP minister expelled in 2024 after contesting a by-election as an Independent, stated that talks with disgruntled leaders from both the Congress and BJP are underway to form a new political alternative. Speaking to PTI, he claimed that senior leaders and workers in both parties feel "sidelined and suffocated," necessitating a party that prioritizes respect for experienced politicians and public welfare. Markanda indicated the party would likely be launched in March-April 2026, with focus on issues like employment, development, and generating state revenue from mining, forest, water, electricity, and health sectors.
