In a statement, he expressed deep apologies for the distress caused to society and the Legislative Council by the recent traffic incident. To avoid affecting the operations of the Legislative Council, he decided to resign effective immediately after careful consideration, pledging to continue working for the public and Hong Kong in different capacities in the future. Legislative Council President Andrew Leung (Li Hui-king) has received his written resignation, stating that she respects his decision and thanks him for his service.
