Wong Kam-fai Resigns from All Legislative Council Duties Following DUI and Hit-and-Run Allegations 03.07.2026

Legislative Councilor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Wong Kam-fai, announced his immediate resignation from all Legislative Council duties today after being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and leaving the scene of an accident. In a statement, he expressed deep apologies for the distress caused to society and the Legislative Council by the recent traffic incident. To avoid affecting the operations of the Legislative Council, he decided to resign effective immediately after careful consideration, pledging to continue working for the public and Hong Kong in different capacities in the future. Legislative Council President Andrew Leung (Li Hui-king) has received his written resignation, stating that she respects his decision and thanks him for his service.
