Heavy rains leave 5 dead in China’s north while Tropical Storm Maysak hits the south and Vietnam 05.07.2026

Heavy rains and Tropical Storm Maysak have caused significant destruction across China and Vietnam. In northern China, five people died on Saturday due to severe weather. Two villagers in the Inner Mongolia region perished in a mountain flash flood, while three others died in Fushun, Liaoning province, following intense rainfall of up to 32.9 centimeters. In southern China, Tropical Storm Maysak moved into the Guangxi region after making landfall in Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province with winds reaching 101 kilometers per hour. This storm caused severe flooding in Fangchenggang, where rivers overflowed and submerged vehicles, prompting rescuers to use inflatable boats for evacuations. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the storm's impact included uprooted trees and damaged buildings in Mong Cai and Dongxing. These weather events have necessitated large-scale relocations and significant debris clearance operations across the affected regions.
