Pakatan hoping for higher voter turnout in Johor polls 19h ago

Pakatan Harapan is expressing strong optimism that voter turnout for the upcoming Johor state elections on July 11 will exceed the record low of 54.92% seen in March 2022. DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook stated that the coalition is conducting extensive ground and online campaigns to encourage participation, particularly among Johoreans living outstation. The 2022 low turnout was attributed to COVID-19 restrictions and the closure of the Singapore border. Pakatan Harapan is contesting all 56 available seats, distributed among PKR, Amanah, and DAP. Loke emphasized that voters must make a choice to prevent others from deciding their future, despite acknowledging potential voter fatigue. Early voting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, as the coalition aims to drive home the importance of this critical election to the local population.
