Uber’s European expansion plans may have hit a speed bump 15h ago

Uber's ambitious expansion strategy across Europe is facing significant delays following a strategic shift in its growth trajectory. Although the company originally announced plans in February to enter seven new European markets by 2026, recent reports indicate that five of those launches are currently on hold. Specifically, operations in Austria, Norway, and Greece have been paused. Uber officials stated that the company intends to focus on maintaining the momentum gained from successful recent launches in Finland and Denmark. Furthermore, this strategic pause may be linked to Uber's ongoing pursuit of a takeover of Delivery Hero. After Delivery Hero rejected a 10 billion euro bid in May, analysts suggest that slowing expansion could help mitigate antitrust concerns, as Delivery Hero already maintains a significant presence in several of the countries where Uber intended to launch.
