Iran begins massive funeral procession for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in Tehran | World News 7h ago

Iran commenced a massive funeral procession in Tehran on Monday for the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The procession features Khamenei’s flag-draped coffin alongside those of his family members, who were killed in a February 28 airstrike conducted by Israel and the United States. Overseen by Revolutionary Guard Gen. Hasan Hasanzadeh, the 12-hour journey moves from Tehran streets toward Mehrabad International Airport. Mourners have gathered in large numbers to show support for the theocracy, with the burial scheduled for Thursday at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad. Amidst the mourning, tensions remain high as protesters carry signs calling for revenge against U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While the U.S. attempts to negotiate regarding the Strait of Hormuz and nuclear programs, diplomatic talks appear paused until the burial concludes.
