Watch out, vampires: British gardener sows and plants to 2 world records, including giant garlic 6h ago

British gardener Graham Barratt from Gloucestershire has secured two new Guinness World Records for his massive vegetable yields. On June 25, 2026, at the Wargrave Nursery Plant Centre in Berkshire, his elephant garlic bulb and Swedish heirloom snow pea were officially certified as the heaviest in the world. The gargantuan garlic bulb measured 19cm in diameter and weighed 1.75kg, making it approximately 35 times heavier than standard grocery store varieties. Additionally, his Swedish heirloom snow pea weighed 28g. Barratt, who has been gardening for most of his life, achieved the garlic record by planting it in September 2025 using black weed membrane to protect it from winter frost. This achievement follows his success in 2025, when he set four other horticulture-related world records, including the heaviest luffa and the longest pea pod.
