54-year-old suffers burns, three homes damaged in Green Lane fire 07.07.2026

On Tuesday, July 7, a significant fire broke out at Taman Hijau 2, Green Lane, resulting in injuries and substantial property damage. A 54-year-old man sustained first-degree burns to his hands after escaping from House No. 40, which suffered approximately 80% damage. The blaze also affected two adjoining terrace houses, Nos. 38 and 42, which sustained 5% damage each, and destroyed a van by roughly 80%. The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received the emergency call at 2:43 pm, and despite traffic congestion, firefighters arrived by 2:54 pm. A total of 32 firefighters from the Jalan Perak, Bayan Baru, Paya Terubong, and Lebuh Pantai stations, supported by Volunteer Fire Brigade units, battled the flames until the fire was controlled at 3:23 pm. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and the total estimated losses.
