Banting school stabbing: Schoolgirl charged with attempted murder of classmate 3h ago

A Form Three female student appeared at the Banting magistrate's court to face an attempted murder charge following a violent incident at a local secondary school. The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 am on July 6, when the suspect allegedly attacked a 15-year-old classmate with a knife, causing injuries with the specific intention of causing death. During the court proceedings, which were held behind closed doors as a Children's Court, magistrate Maslinda Selamat read the charges to the 15-year-old girl. No plea was recorded during the session. Instead, the magistrate granted a joint application from both the prosecution and the defense to have the girl sent for a one-month psychiatric assessment. This legal step aims to evaluate the suspect's mental state following the reported attack on her schoolmate.
