The Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration has issued a directive requiring all port authorities and sub-departments nationwide to enhance waterway safety measures. This action comes in direct response to the July 11 canoe capsize in An Giang Province that resulted in the deaths of 15 foreign tourists. Director Lê Đỗ Mười signed the directive on July 12, calling for immediate and thorough reviews of safety protocols.
