Central Ohio gas prices take flight after ceasefire disrupted in Iran 14.07.2026

Gas prices in central Ohio have taken a sharp upward turn, jumping 26.5 cents per gallon in the past week to an average of $3.88, according to GasBuddy's survey of 500 stations in and around Columbus. This increase comes after two weeks of declining prices and follows the breakdown of the ceasefire between the United States and Iran, which triggered a surge in oil prices. Sunday's average is 32.4 cents higher than one month ago and a striking 78.1 cents above the same time last year. For a driver with a typical midsize car and a 15-gallon tank, each fill-up now costs approximately $12 to $15 more than it did a year ago.
