The Initiative for Strategic Litigation in Africa (Isla) and Lawyers for Human Rights (LHR) have approached the Pretoria high court to review the rejection of a Congolese woman's asylum application. The woman, from South Kivu in eastern DRC, alleges she was repeatedly raped by soldiers before fleeing with her children. She claims she was sexually exploited by border officials while traveling through Burundi, Tanzania, and Mozambique before arriving in South Africa around 2006 or 2007.
