16 more children found infected with HIV at Karachi's Valika Hospital, ombudsman told 14h ago

During a hearing on Tuesday, the Sindh Ombudsman, Mohammad Sohail Rajput, was told that 16 additional children have been diagnosed with HIV/AIDS at the Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI)-run Kulsoom Bai Valika Hospital in Karachi. This brings the total number of affected children to 94, up from the 78 previously confirmed by the provincial government. Parents of the infected children voiced serious complaints about a lack of cooperation from hospital administration, non-availability of medicines, and delays in payment of treatment expenses. The ombudsman expressed disappointment with the hospital staff's performance and directed the administration to ensure timely availability of medicines, dietary supplements, and essential supplies. He also ordered the establishment of a help desk near the main entrance to facilitate affected families and address their complaints.
