Cape Town's public transport system is undergoing a green revolution with the introduction of its first fully-electric MyCiTi bus, affectionately named 'Evie'. The 12-metre Volvo BZRLE battery-electric bus has successfully completed rigorous performance testing across various routes, including steep inclines, heavy traffic, and long-distance journeys. This milestone has prompted the city to order an initial fleet of 38 electric buses, with the first batch expected before the end of 2026 and final delivery by March 2027.
