Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, the deputy chairman of Barisan Nasional, has stated that he expects the general election to be held earlier than scheduled, potentially by the end of 2026. Speaking at a programme in Rantau, he noted that if the prime minister deems the timing appropriate, parliament could be dissolved as soon as late this year. However, he acknowledged that the current parliamentary term might continue until the middle of next year. Mohamad emphasized the importance of the upcoming Negri Sembilan state election, describing it as a crucial experiment to strengthen support for BN ahead of the national polls.
