In Toronto, Canada, the National Dialogue Commission is addressing the governance of Addis Ababa and Dire Dawa as one of eight major agenda items. According to Wazema Radio, four options were initially presented at sub-group discussions: Addis Ababa as a city state, part of the federal government, a federal state on its own, or part of the Oromia administration. These were later narrowed to two: federal government control or Oromia administration. This has caused a rift within the ruling Prosperity Party, with delegates from Oromia advocating for Oromia administration, while those from other regions support federal government status.
