France uk travel ees biometrics still on hold for cars at dover and eurotunnel leshuttle 31.07.2026

The implementation of biometric data collection for non-EU travelers at the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel LeShuttle has been postponed until after the summer peak season. At Dover, where passport data for car travelers is entered into the Entry/Exit System (EES) by border guards, kiosks for capturing facial images and fingerprints remain non-operational due to uninstalled French technology. A Dover spokeswoman confirmed that biometric collection will not be enforced this summer, with no confirmed date for going live. Similarly, Eurotunnel announced no biometric capture at its Folkestone and Calais terminals, allowing customers to travel as normal throughout peak season. Eurostar also continues to register travelers without biometrics, pending kiosk availability.
