Enemalta has informed social partners that its €141 million investment programme in Malta's electricity distribution network is yielding significant results. During a meeting of the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), the state-owned company reported a 76% reduction in downtime on its medium-voltage network compared to 2023. This improvement comes despite a notable increase in electricity demand, with peak demand rising from 663MW in July 2023 to 741MW in July 2024. The announcement follows a string of power cuts that affected several localities during a recent heatwave.
