A series of forest fires have erupted in the Badulla District over the past week, exacerbated by persistent dry weather conditions and strong winds. The most significant blaze occurred in the forest reserve surrounding the iconic Rawana Falls, a major tourist attraction, destroying more than 30 acres of vegetation. The fire spread rapidly due to heavy winds, threatening to engulf a larger area before authorities intervened.
