Tree farming in Tanzania's Iringa and Njombe regions has transformed from a conservation measure into a thriving economic sector, providing long-term financial security for thousands of families. Farmers like Alphonse Chengula, who began investing in pine plantations eight years ago, now own 16 acres of trees, with mature plots selling for up to Sh50 million each. This income has funded his children's education through PhD level, while others like John Mtewele have built houses, bought tractors, and diversified into processed timber products.
