The Vera C. Rubin Observatory has released a stunning new image of the COSMOS field, a well-documented region of the sky in the constellation Sextans. Using its 3.2-gigapixel camera, the observatory captured more than 650,000 galaxies and over 50,000 stars in a single view, offering an exceptionally detailed look at this patch of the universe. The COSMOS field contains over 2 million galaxies spanning 75% of the universe's age, with some as far as 12 billion light-years away. Its location away from the crowded plane of the Milky Way makes it an ideal target for deep-space surveys.
