10 districts likely to face short-term floods in next 24-48 hours: FFWC 05.08.2026

The Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) has issued a warning that at least 10 districts in Bangladesh are at risk of short-term flooding over the next 24 to 48 hours. This is due to heavy rainfall across the country and torrential rain in upstream areas of India. According to the latest FFWC bulletin, Dirai in Sunamganj recorded the country's highest rainfall in the last 24 hours at 402mm, while Cooch Behar in India's West Bengal received 254mm. This 402mm rainfall is the highest single-day rainfall recorded in the country this year. The FFWC forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Rangpur, Sylhet, Mymensingh, and Chattogram divisions, as well as adjoining upstream areas, over the next 24 hours.
