In her performance *And What Did You Say?* (2026) at the UAE Pavilion in Venice, Russian artist Taus Makhacheva transforms gossip into a visceral, bodily experience. The work features three characters—Source, Spread, and Core—each embodying a stage in the life cycle of gossip: its origin, transmission, and internal absorption. Through collaborative choreography, gestures migrate fluidly between performers, mimicking how rumors shift shape and meaning as they pass from person to person. A central, edible vessel is bitten and consumed during the piece, literalizing the idea that gossip enters the body and alters it from within, much like food is transformed through digestion.
