Don Lemon tells judge he was a target of Trump before indictment in ask to drop criminal case 07.08.2026

Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor, has filed a motion to dismiss an indictment stemming from his presence at a protest at Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, earlier this year. Lemon's legal team, led by Abbe Lowell, argues that the charges are a result of vindictive prosecution, directly linked to President Trump's longstanding hostility toward the journalist. The motion cites over a dozen statements from Trump and administration officials to support the claim that the Justice Department acted on the president's animus. Lemon was arrested and charged with conspiring to violate constitutional rights and violating the FACE Act, which prohibits interference with religious expression. He has pleaded not guilty.
