Iran says framework of agreement with Oman finalized 10.08.2026

Iran and Oman have finalized the general framework of their agreement, according to Hassan Ghashghavi, spokesperson of the Iranian parliament's National Security Commission. The final text and details will be announced soon, with implementation subject to final approval at the highest decision-making levels. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that a joint statement between Tehran and Muscat is in the final drafting stage, noting that negotiations are "forward-moving" but could be obstructed by certain third parties. The agreement centers on a proposed shipping route through the Strait of Hormuz, potentially reopening the critical waterway for commercial shipping and energy supplies.
