Here's what British Columbians think about drug consumption sites 13.08.2026

A recent Ipsos poll conducted on behalf of Neighbours of 900 Helmcken surveyed 801 British Columbians about their views on drug consumption sites, also known as overdose prevention sites (OPS) or safe injection sites. The results indicate widespread dissatisfaction with the provincial government's handling of the toxic drug crisis. Specifically, 58% of respondents said these sites have worsened the overall addiction crisis, while 57% reported increases in visible drug use, crime, and street disorder in surrounding areas. Furthermore, 54% felt community safety had declined, and 73% agreed that money spent on these sites could be better used for treatment and recovery services.
