Rhoda Roberts, a proud Widjabul Wieybal woman of the Bundjalung nation, was posthumously awarded the lifetime achievement award at the Naidoc awards in Alice Springs on Saturday night. Roberts, who died in March at age 66, was recognized for her extraordinary contributions to sharing, preserving, and promoting First Nations culture through language, dance, and ceremony. The Naidoc awards, which celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, marked their 50th anniversary this year.
