Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the US charge d’affaires in Islamabad on Wednesday to lodge a "strong demarche" over US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor's visit to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and his remarks describing the disputed territory as "an important part of India." The ministry issued a statement strongly condemning and categorically rejecting this characterization, emphasizing that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory awaiting final disposition in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
