UAE employers warned over health insurance compliance 22.08.2026

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has issued a warning to private-sector employers and domestic worker sponsors regarding health insurance compliance. Six specific cases of non-compliance have been identified, including failure to enroll a worker in a health insurance policy or renew it, refusing to cover healthcare costs or emergency treatment, requiring workers to bear insurance costs, providing a policy that does not meet basic coverage requirements, canceling a policy while the work permit is valid, and failing to ensure continuous coverage throughout the permit's validity. Administrative fines will be imposed under Cabinet Resolution No. 21 of 2020, and MoHRE may take legal action, including suspending or rejecting work permits.
