13-room guesthouse overlooking Munxar valley set for approval 10.07.2026

The Planning Authority is expected to approve Glorianne Camilleri's application to convert two residential properties at 4, Triq ix-Xlendi into a 13-room guesthouse overlooking the Munxar valley. The project involves excavating a basement for a swimming pool, altering a pre-1967 vernacular building, and adding rooms on the first floor and roof. Located within the Xlendi–Wied tal-Kantra Natura 2000 site and an Area of High Landscape Value, the proposal faced objections from Din l-Art Ħelwa regarding increased footprints and tree removal. However, the ERA withdrew its objection after plan revisions, and the SCH raised no objections provided heritage monitoring is maintained. To compensate for the lack of on-site parking, the applicant will pay a €17,000 contribution to the Urban Improvement Fund. The Planning Authority will make its final decision on 15 July.
