In Morogoro, Tanzania, a traditional treatment known as apitherapy is gaining attention for its potential to relieve pain using bee venom, or apitoxin. Practitioner Musiba Kitema explained that apitoxin contains chemicals like melittin, which stimulate human cells, and enzymes such as phospholipase A2. While accidental bee stings can cause pain, swelling, or even death, controlled therapeutic use aims to harness these chemicals for healing. The key difference, Kitema stressed, lies in the dosage and administration by trained specialists.
