‘Policy paralysis’ to ‘dynamism’: PM Modi returns to SRCC, maps India’s growth in 13 years | India News 06.09.2026

Hindustan Times

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed students at Delhi University's Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) on Saturday, marking his return to the same stage where he spoke in February 2013, before coming to national office. During the college's centenary celebrations, Modi asserted that India had moved from "policy paralysis" to "policy dynamism" over the past 13 years. He contrasted the current economic climate with 2013, when India was grappling with terror attacks, high inflation, corruption, and was labeled among the "Fragile Five" nations. Modi cited a 7.8% GDP growth rate in the most recent quarter and a ratings upgrade by a Japanese credit agency as evidence of India's progress. He also highlighted increases in electricity production (9%), vehicle sales (20%), and steel and cement consumption (8%) between April and June, arguing these figures demonstrate expanding construction, housing, and jobs.
