President Prabowo Subianto has mandated a substantial increase in Indonesia's disaster mitigation budget to improve both preventive and responsive measures. He made the announcement during a limited meeting on disaster mitigation held via video conference from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday. Prabowo stressed that Indonesia's location within the Pacific Ring of Fire makes it highly prone to natural disasters, including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and wildfires, necessitating greater government efforts to ensure public safety.
