Dell wants £10m+ from VMware if Tesco case goes against it 15.01.2026

Dell is seeking over £10 million from VMware in a software licensing dispute stemming from a lawsuit filed by Tesco. The retail giant is suing VMware's owner, Broadcom, and reseller Computacenter, alleging they failed to provide software licenses and support services as per a 2021 contract. Computacenter, in turn, sued Broadcom and Dell, claiming Dell, as a former VMware distributor, had an obligation to supply the software. Dell has filed a claim against VMware UK and IL, asserting they breached obligations to provide goods and services, and expects to recover more than £10 million if Computacenter's action is successful. Dell's defense against Computacenter states its contract only required communicating renewal requests to VMware, conditional on VMware's willingness to supply.
