Rivian Could Let Drivers Adjust Their EV's Cabin from an Apple Watch, Report Says 10.02.2026

Electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian is reportedly developing a standalone Apple Watch app that will allow drivers to remotely control their car's cabin. This new app, expected to be released as part of the 2026.03 software update alongside version 3.9 of the Rivian iPhone app, will enable users to lock or unlock doors, open or close windows, and activate the car's alarm directly from their wrist. This move expands upon the December software update that allowed the Apple Watch to function as a digital key for Gen 2 Rivian vehicles, including the R1S and R1T. The upcoming update aims to achieve feature parity with the iPhone app and will also extend digital key functionality to Rivian's Gen 1 vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2024.
