A routine traffic stop for a registration violation in Clearlake, California, on Sunday, April 5, escalated into a double homicide investigation, leading to the arrest of Alex Kenneth Schussolin, 37, and Jasslynn Pearl Critchett, 32. California Highway Patrol officers initially pulled over a Chevrolet Suburban for an expired registration. During the stop, officers discovered an unresponsive male in the vehicle who was later pronounced dead. Further investigation prompted by blood found inside the car led authorities to search an area near the Lake-Mendocino County line, where a woman's body was found down an embankment. A gun was also found near where Schussolin fled.
