Artist's Ukrainian bulleted door displayed on hill 25.02.2026

Artist Robert Marshall installed a bullet-peppered door, salvaged from Toretsk, Ukraine, at Peveril Point in Dorset on Tuesday to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion. The pop-up sculpture, titled 'People', features the word painted in Ukrainian on the door, which is pierced multiple times to symbolize the civilians behind it. Marshall, from Wareham, aims to prompt reflection on the displacement of Ukrainians. The door, in place from dawn to dusk, highlights the destruction caused by the invasion that began on February 24, 2022. Marshall expressed hope for the safety of the former residents of the destroyed home, whose fate remains unknown.
