DOJ revives Trump's lawsuits against Big Law firms 03.03.2026

The Justice Department has reversed its decision to voluntarily dismiss appeals in lawsuits against several Big Law firms, including Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, Jenner & Block, and Susman Godfrey. This change of course, occurring less than 24 hours after the initial dismissal request on Monday, sees the department asking the court to disregard its previous order and continue pursuing appeals against firms that had secured rulings against Trump's executive orders. The DOJ's initial decision to drop the cases followed an agreement by other law firms to provide approximately $1 billion in legal work to the president. The firms involved have opposed the government's request to withdraw the dismissal, citing a lack of explanation for the reversal.
