Boy died 'in agony' after operation by suspended surgeon 04.03.2026

Nine-year-old Jack Moate died in agony two months after undergoing surgery in 2015 by suspended surgeon Kuldeep Stohr at Addenbrooke's hospital. Jack experienced significant blood loss and continuous pain following the procedure, with independent experts later expressing significant concerns about the operation's risks given his complex medical needs. His mother, Elizabeth Moate, felt pressured to consent to the surgery and reported her son was screaming in pain upon returning home. No pre-discharge imaging was conducted, and a subsequent scan revealed the operation had failed, leaving the site unhealed and unstable. Jack's death was attributed to deep vein thrombosis, cerebral palsy, and epilepsy, and his case has been referred to the coroner for further investigation.
