2,800 Meralco customers experience outage due to fallen utility pole in Pasig City 05.05.2026

Approximately 2,800 Meralco customers in Pasig City experienced a power outage on Tuesday after a mixer truck snagged low-hanging telecommunication cables. The incident, which occurred around 2 p.m. along Sandoval Avenue, caused a utility pole to collapse onto three motorcycles, two tricycles, and a closed van. Driver Reymark Picasa stated he was unaware the cables were caught by his vehicle. While one person sustained injuries, they received immediate medical attention. The accident triggered significant traffic congestion in Barangay Pinagbuhatan and Barangay Nagpayong. Meralco personnel estimated that replacing the damaged pole and restoring power would take up to ten hours. Local government and police units are currently managing traffic flow while Meralco and Pasig officials conduct a formal investigation into the event.
