Balkan ex-presidents slam Iran war at Global Baku Forum 13d ago

At the Global Baku Forum in Azerbaijan, former Serbian President Boris Tadić and former Croatian President Ivo Josipović criticized the US-Israeli war against Iran, viewing it as a significant escalation of global crises following Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Tadić warned that the Iran conflict involves a second major power, potentially destabilizing regional countries like Azerbaijan and undermining international law, advocating for a UN-led reset and enhanced multilateral institutions. Josipović expressed grave concerns about a downward global spiral, humanitarian crises due to displacement and resource scarcity, and the potential for a third world war, especially with superpower interests involved. Both leaders stressed the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to prevent historical patterns of conflict from repeating.
