360,000 cell phones to be blocked this month; find out the dates 07.07.2026

The Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) announced that 360,000 mobile devices will be blocked during the month of July. This measure affects devices that are not included in the white list of the National Registry of Mobile Terminal Equipment for Security (Renteseg) and are linked to users with a history of using cell phones with altered IMEIs. The primary objective is to combat the black market for stolen devices. The blocking process will be progressive: 120,000 devices will be blocked on Tuesday, July 7, followed by equal groups on July 14 and July 21. With this action, the total number of blocks will exceed 4.6 million since April 2025. Affected users can consult details on the Renteseg portal, which includes an interactive map regarding the regional impact of these measures.
