Deadly attack on Sudan hospital was double-tap strike, local officials say 24.03.2026

A hospital in Al Dain, East Darfur, was struck by three drone-fired rockets, resulting in 64 fatalities and nearly 100 injuries, according to RSF-aligned officials. The attack, described as a "double-tap strike," damaged the paediatric, maternity, and emergency departments, killing health workers and children, as reported by World Health Organisation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Al Dain's sole fully operational hospital is now non-functional, necessitating patient transfers to private facilities and makeshift locations amidst a severe displacement crisis. The Sudanese Armed Forces, accused by the paramilitary, have not issued a public statement, adhering to their established policy since the conflict commenced in 2023.
