Morocco ready to host Wafcon 'any time' as questions remain over postponement 27.03.2026

The 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon), originally scheduled for March 17, has been postponed to July 25-August 16, with Morocco expressing readiness to host at any time despite the lack of clear reasons from the Confederation of African Football (Caf). Morocco has become a frequent host of continental tournaments, including recent Wafcon and Champions League editions, and is set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The postponement, citing "unforeseen circumstances," has caused disruption for teams like Ghana, who were in training camps, and highlights concerns about the prioritization of women's football, especially as this Wafcon also serves as World Cup qualification. South Africa had previously offered to host if needed, and Caf president Patrice Motsepe indicated other nations were interested but unwilling to change dates, a statement now contradicted by the postponement.
